Sauer Productions

Chicago, IL — Branding

Sauer Productions is a Midwestern documentary film company that strives to share raw, untold stories from around the world. They exist to amplify unheard voices and provide a spotlight for overlooked narratives by capturing honest interactions, while allowing space for the viewer’s interpretations, understanding, and conversations.

Target Audience

Sauer Productions’ primary target market is composed of recognizable brands and production companies looking to partner with smaller filmmakers to produce 5-20 minute documentaries. They prioritize partnerships with small businesses they believe in, and are eager to engage in professional relationships with independent filmmakers. By outsourcing to a smaller company like Sauer Productions, they can save money in-house on employee benefits, travel costs, etc. Sauer’s secondary audience are the viewers of these films, the people their films should speak most directly to. They are 25-45 year old men and women that are involved in their communities and care about relevant political issues, but more so, the humans behind the stories. They love stories that require them to think, to fill the the blanks. They’re invested in continuing to further their education and perspective and seek films to do so.

Brand Concept

We want to craft a mature yet empathetic brand, ensuring that the visual concept will be well-received by higher-end, professional companies like the New York Times and communicating the difficult topics that your films often capture. Customized typography communicates connection, understanding, intentionality, and flow across the entirety of the logo and in turn, Sauer Productions’ work, while the marks bring complexity to the brand with a 3D version of the S in Sauer, while also resembling a film strip.
