Brand Evolution

Where Katelyn Allison Began…

Katelyn’s photography business began after a candid photo session with a friend in college, but turned into a true passion. She spent several years photographing mostly larger weddings. She learned how to handle extensive calendars and timelines, and organize a lot of moving parts. A few years ago, she started to dream bigger. Actually smaller: she wanted to dive fully into intimate weddings. As she made plans for where she wanted her business to go, she knew she needed her brand to communicate to her ideal clients much more clearly.

Where Katelyn Allison Is Headed…

Katelyn came to use when she was ready to jump into what she really loves: intimate adventurous weddings. She wanted to take all the valuable lessons she learned photographing big weddings and put all that energy into smaller, intimate elopements. She wanted to help her couples with everything they might need. So with her rebrand, we wanted to visually convey the personality in her job. After all, if she’s capturing and planning elopements for her couples, she needs to show them that they could get along right away.

Target Audience

Kailey, 29, is a social media coordinator in Atlanta, GA. She loves getting out of the city on the weekends, whether that’s hiking in the mountains of Georgia or flying to camp in Colorado. She’s modern and boho, uniquely her. She shops at REI, Prana, Everlane, and Free People and prioritizes authenticity over everything. Her relationships are so valuable to her and she tries to invest her time and money in people and experiences that bring them closer!

Visual Rationale

Who says that a fun brand can’t be trustworthy? And who says adventure can’t be high-end? We knew Katelyn’s business was all four of these qualities and that her visuals had a big job to communicate all three. We customized every letter of the sans serif typeface for both optimal contrast and softness. The yellow dot in the “A” represents the sun and the outdoor nature of every elopement. The tagline balances the primary logo with a more personal and genuine feeling.

Brand Values

Adventure — Fun — Communication

If you’ve made it this deep into our site, you probably already know that collaboration is our favorite. This project was a team effort with the help of the Green Chair Stories team on copywriting.
