Kate Garcia

Temecula, CA — Branding, Web Design, & Print Collateral

Kate is genuinely one of the kindest people you will ever meet. I know everybody says this, but Kate cares about her clients above all else. Period. When we were chatting through her business priorities and goals, the most consistent thing that she said was “I want to celebrate my couple’s marriage more than their wedding.” Her old branding and website were seriously underselling both her talent and her personality, so we set out to tell the story of service through her re-design.

Target Audience:

Kate’s perfect client cares most about quality. Everything they do revolves around what they’re passionate about—each other, their hobbies, their career. They don’t do things that they don’t love. With that, their top priority on their wedding day is each other— to quote Kate, “If that means a wedding with 150 guests - sweet! But if that means they elope in Yosemite - I’m down too!” While their marriage is their biggest focus, they also care about their day. They don’t cut corners and would rather hire Kate for 10+ hours than just the minimum to get by. They are 500% excited that Kate’s shooting their day and celebrating alongside of them. The biggest gap between Kate’s current audience and her target audience is just that. Kate said “Most of the day is spent catching up or only shooting using my go-to poses because we don’t have the time to let creativity flow.” So with the rebrand, we set out to change that.

Brand Concept:

Our biggest goals for Kate’s visual branding were to communicate realness, authenticity, celebration, and the genuine connection she has with her clients. Additionally, we wanted the new look to up her cohesiveness, help book her more elopements and adventure shoots, and all around feel like KATE. We wanted to keep things modern through sans serif typography and craft a brand that resonates with Kate’s target audience, making them feel celebrated, and known. We leaned into a dominant use of color as well and called attention to the diamond above the “i” in Garcia. The diamond signifies marriage, and speaks to the high-end nature of Kate’s work, as well as adding a pop to demonstrate her personality.

Key Words:

Celebratory — Authentic — Earthy — Fun — Trustworthy — Timeless — Caring

In Kate’s Words

“Lydia was so intentional with me from the very beginning. I felt like to listened to me and understood me at every point of the process. She showed me her value from the start and made it a no-brainer to book her. The way she handled her business gave me the push I needed to charge more for my own work. I could tell how much time and effort she was putting into my site and provided feedback along the way that was necessary for my own growth. She blended her expertise with my vision and I couldn’t be happier.”

Print Collateral

One of the biggest things we focused on for this project was client experience. Everything Kate does (starting with the very reason that she chose photography as a career) stems from the desire to create an absolutely magical experience for her couples. We loved the idea of a printed client welcome guide for her to personally mail to each client after they book along with a handwritten note and a little surprise, all tied up in a beautiful package.

website Design & Development

Kate’s site is one of my favorites I’ve ever designed. Not only did she hire me for a full site design, she also hired my friend Rachel for full site copy— let me tell you, that combination is the best of the best.

If you’ve made it this deep into my site, you probably already know that collaboration is my favorite. This project was a team effort with the help of Rachel Greiman on copywriting and Amber Ladd on website development.
