Christine Sanchez
Reviving a documentary family photographer’s brand to reach her dream clients

Brand Evolution
Where Christine Sanchez Began…
As a portrait and documentary photographer, Christine approaches her work differently than most, focusing on the truly real moments. The unstaged, the imperfect, the true memories rather than staged ones. She continues to do portrait work because clients are still unsure about the documentary side of things. She knows people have a strong reaction to her real moments and documentary work speaks to her soul. Her favorite clients are the ones who feel similarly.
She wanted a brand that helped communicate the meaning and power in documentary images.
Where Christine Sanchez Is Headed…
Christine has been a professional photographer for almost a decade. After a slower season of business in recent years while she’s been raising littles, she came to us ready to really dive into her work again, reaching her target audience, and take steps toward big goals in the next few years. The biggest goal? Shooting mostly documentary and leaving the portraits behind. We want this rebrand to portray her as the talented and established photographer that she is and resonate with her target audience, reminding them of why capturing their real memories matters.

Target Audience
Mark + Deepti, 38 + 36, have two young kids and they feel anxious that they aren’t doing enough to remember this hectic season of life. They both hold college degrees, both work full-time, and in their free time, they love anything that gives them a true experience—traveling, spending time outside, film and literature, or the arts.
Their family unit is their most prized possession. They’re comfortable with imperfection (even chaos at times!) and care about their kids experiencing childhood. Messy homes, sharing food with their pups, mix-matching their socks, and running around in their underwear are things they cherish, as they’re a reflection of their real life. They typically have lots of framed family photos, and hang their children’s art on the wall, and their favorites are the candid snapshots that seem to freeze a moment on their wall forever.
They have taken a non-traditional route to parenthood, and trust Christine with their unique story, holding her work with an appreciation for time together in a way that’s beautiful and grounding. They want their life captured as it’s actually lived.
Visual Rationale
Documentary family photography is all about photographing the simple moments. It’s stripping down the theatrics of a normal photo session: the put-together outfits, the posed smiles, the perfect light and setting. Documentary photos show the grit of daily life, with no fuss. We wanted to design a brand for Christine that mirrored that simplicity, showing the beauty in the paring down.
The arched “Christine” in her primary logo brings about a soft approachability, just like she brings into her sessions with families of all kinds, in all seasons of life. Her last name is displayed a bit larger for balance in the logo as well as to call attention to her last name—your family name— showcasing the emphasis she puts on capturing family relationships.
